Nobody knows where the fashion industry is going to due to the rapid spread of the pandemic virus, however this virus affects all industry from entertainment, to sports, to politics etc.
Despite the negative impact the virus is having on the World, it leaves, entrepreneurs, business moguls, fashion designers, entertainers and what have you with the only option to be creative and find virtual means to keep their businesses moving.
Recently, we realized that both large and small fashion designers are finding ways to drive their brand and contemporary women’s ready-to-wear line.
Hanifa, one of our top brands released their new Congo-inspired Pink Label Capsule SS20 Collection via Instagram On Friday, May 22nd.
The Congolese designer of contemporary brand, Anifa Mvuemba premiered 3D Models in replacement of real models to correlate with the time period we’re in.
After a few technical difficulties, the show kicked off on the @hanifabridal channel.
The show started with the designers speaking about her journey from Hanifa’s official launch in 2012. Mvuemba exclaimed how the brand has given her validation.
The innovative 3D approach which is incredible in its overall conceptualization caught the attention of fashion and design lovers globally while shedding much needed light on the issues on the country she is from and also inspired the collection, the DRC (Congo).
The collection itself was absolutely striking and memorable with a pleasant mix of vibrant hues and bridal fabric selects. With her designs, Mvuemba wants to celebrate the beauty of Congo, while drawing attention to the issues faced by people in the locale such as illegal mining.
According to the brand:
“Riddled with a painful history, the beauty of Congo is often untapped and overlooked. The gentleness, beauty, history, poise, majesty, strength, power, and hope of the Congolese spirit inspired this collection. When creating each piece, I was reminded of the stories my mother told me of the women she knew back home in Congo. Women who suffered great loss but still, mustered every ounce of strength everyday to show up. My hope is that this collection inspires all women to stand tall in their power and like the Democratic Republic of Congo, to use their history, whether pretty or painful — to redesign their future. My country, the land of Congo, is ripe with an abundance of natural resources — the greatest of which are its people — its women.”
“We create for women without limitations, I found that the 3D world gave me a place to innovate”.
The fast-rising label has been an African household name for quite a while having received nods from Kylie Jenner, Lizzo and Kelly Rowland. They also boast features in magazines like Vogue, Forbes and ESSENCE.
