Genevieve Nnnaji Looking Young And Beautiful As She Turns 41 Today
Veteran Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji is a name that can never fade out in the entertainment industry most and today marks the 41st birthday of this woman.
Genevieve who was born May, 3 in Mbaise in Imo State – Nigeria grew up as the fourth of eight children, nurtured in a middle-class environment. Her father was an engineer while her mother was a nursery school teacher.
She had the opportunity to first display her acting talent at the age of 8 in the then-popular television soap opera, “Ripples”. However, her full potential in the movie industry could not fully materialize until she attained the age of 19.
Her world almost collapsed right before her young eyes when she became pregnant at the young age of 17 when she was expected to be focused on her education. Even though her parents felt betrayed and disappointed, they supported her throughout her pregnancy and gave her the opportunity to continue her education at the prestigious University of Lagos (Unilag) after she had given birth.
The 41 years of old actress demonstrated other talents of her as a singer and model. She has featured in several commercials including commercials for Pronto beverages and Omo detergent and in 2004, she became the face of Lux soap in Nigeria.
She has won several awards including Best Actress of the Year Award at the 2001 City People Awards and the Best Actress in a Leading Role Award at the 2005 Africa Movie Academy Awards.
In November 2011, she was among the distinguished Nigerians who received National Honors conferred by then President Goodluck Jonathan when she was named as Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).
The actress popularly known as ‘Sharon Stone’ has had her fans ask about her marriage several times however she refuses to answer them until recently.
According to her, the demand for marriage and the fear of divorce have primarily deterred her from tying the knot and getting the chance to spend the rest of her life with her soul mate. She revealed that her strict Catholic upbringing would not let her consider divorce for any reason. In the voice of Genevieve Nnaji she detailed her reasons for staying single;
“If I got married, it will really do me good, but staying married isn’t an easy thing. It means you are completely in the dancing tune of your husband. It means you have found your soulmate because you will be able to stay a lot of disappointment that would definitely come, but again you have to learn to forgive and forget.”
